What is a life book?

A life book is a resource that allows a child to keep track of their history, important information, and personal growth during their time in foster care.

These life books are designed to keep everyone involved in the child's foster care case on the same page. 

Foster parents, biological families, social workers, lawyers, therapists can all use this tool to:

• See what the child has been up to month by month

• See where the child's head is at by reviewing the activity pages filled in by the child each month

• Easily communicate and store important information that will need to follow the child throughout their time in foster care

What does a life book contain?

Each life book contains these sections:

• All about me - a place to record personal history or information about the child

• About my biological family - a place to record family history or important information about a child's biological family

• My journey - a place to record information about the foster home where the child is placed

• My calendar - a monthly calendar used to keep track of important events during a child's stay in foster care. This section also includes an emotion tracker and fun monthly activities
